About Us
The Masonville United Methodist Church was founded in 1872 to meet the needs of local farmers and residents of the village of Masonville in what was part of then-rural Mount Laurel Township. Mount Laurel had just been newly established that same year, separating from the larger Evesham Township in 1872. Thus, Mount Laurel Township and Masonville United Methodist Church are exactly the same age.
The congregation of the Church began in 1869 as a Sunday School meeting at a local home. The original chapel, built on a donated meadowland, was dedicated on February 19, 1872. Subsequent additions and renovations were made, but the original chapel remains the heart of our worship facility.
In 2006, the sister churches of Rancocas UMC and Masonville UMC were merged into a single congregation. (The Rancocas UMC had been organized in 1844, and served the village of Rancocas, in Westampton Township, until the 2006 merger.) The Masonville church’s campus in Mount Laurel was rededicated as the worship center for the appropriately renamed Masonville Rancocas United Methodist Church.
The Masonville-Rancocas United Methodist Church has been and continues to be a caring and active faith community. We look forward with joy and optimism as we continue to meet the spiritual needs of people in our community and beyond.
